iPhone Applications

Julie, my daughter-in-law just received an iPhone for her birthday. While I have had mine for about a year, I have only downloaded a Weight Watchers App, music, pictures, and a game. She was so excited about the phone and apps; that I thought I would share 2 apps that she told me about that I intend to download. Lose It (http://www.loseit.com/) is an app for dieters which allows you to track calories and much more. Julie used her iPhone and scanned the barcode on a bottle of Italian dressing I have in the refrigerator. Sure enough, calories were calculated. Since she is an avid reader, she also showed me goodreads (http://www.goodreads.com/) a app that allows among other features to scan a barcode of a book, if you happen to be at Barnes and Noble, for an instant review of the book.

Her interest inspired me to find other information about IPhone Apps. I checked the Moraine Park Library Catalog (http://mptclib.wctc.edu/). The library has many electronic books on iPhone applications particularly about creating them. Apple's site for the iPhone (http://www.apple.com/iphone/from-the-app-store/) has a list of many free and pay for apps including education, entertainment, social networking, families, news, business, sports and fitness and travel.

Amazon is another source if you are looking for books about apps. One book, among many, is shown above.

Like any other format to deliver information, it is best to select an iphone/smartphone that meets your needs and make sure the application is one that you can rely on.
