Signs Seen at Occupy Wall Street

DISCLAIMER: I have never been to New York City. The screencaptures you see below were taken from the latest post to The Buring Platform (don't know why it is called that unless it has something to do with the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill). The title of the blogpost is A Lesson in Democracy and Our Most Excellent Adventure in NYC.

My thanks to Jim Quinn and anybody else associated with The Burning Platform.

Pennsylvannian Jim Quinn took his wife and two sons to New York City on Saturday, October, 16th 2011 to see what the Occupy Wall Street event was like firsthand.

What the Quinns saw on that day was quite different from the portrayal of the OWS that we've been hearing from the mainstream media.

Instead of a bunch of left-wing whiners, the OWSers are ordinary people with a variety of complaints against the powers that be.

The sign on the bottom says "I'll believe that corporations are people when Texas executes one."

Whether it was fraud or just immoral behavior, many people feel that things like credit default swaps and excessive trading of subprime mortgages harmed the average American.

One of the biggest concerns of the OWSers is that our currency is being diluted by things like quantitative easing and other fixes that only delay our problems.

People are worth more than money. Of course we are! That is why the status quo is not acceptable for lots of different people.

Do you 'get' this sign?

Social Security - unless changes are made - will go bankrupt within a few years. Furthermore, people who are working now don't have much to look forward to as far as pensions go.

Where have I heard this before?

This is Jim Quinn's own sign.

Like I was saying before, the Occupy Wall Street event isn't just a bunch of whiners hangning out. They actually have scheduled activities.
